Atrium TV, the innovative drama “commissioning club” launched at MIPTV this year, today announces that experienced international TV executive Nick Witkowski has joined the team as director of global content sales.

Atrium TV was established by Sir Howard Stringer, former chairman of Sony and former president of CBS and Jeremy Fox, CEO of British distributor DRG, specifically to create premium, high profile drama content for delivery by regional OTT players and TelCos.

Nick Witkowski will join a growing team that also includes creative head Quinn Taylor, based in in Los Angeles, and UK-based development exec Dave Clarke. Based in Atrium’s London office, Nick will be responsible for working closely with Atrium TV club members as projects come to fruition.

Nick is a well-respected independent producer and consultant, specialising in the international financing and distribution of high-end drama. He comes to Atrium TV with more 30 years experience, including senior positions at Central Television, TVS and Chrysalis Television. He was a co-founder of Alchemy, which created more than $250m worth of production and, in the past five years, he has helped fund over $100m of production for clients that have included Lookout Point/BBCWW, Red Planet Productions and Cineflix Studios, the latter for whom he helped finance two seasons of Copper for BBC America. Nick has been behind the financing and exploitation of many critically acclaimed and successful productions including Shackleton (C4 and A&E), Diamonds (CBC and Canal Plus), Flashpoint (CTV and CBS) and most recently ITV series Marcella, for which he finalised a multi-million dollar pre-sale.

Jeremy Fox, CEO of Atrium TV comments: “Nick joins Atrium TV at a really exciting time: we will shortly be announcing the first round of members to join founding member Viaplay and we will also be launching a new programme slate at MIPCOM.

“Nick brings with him huge amounts of valuable experience from the international drama world and a genuine passion for the end product. He is also incredibly well liked in the industry and has a track record for getting results so we are delighted that he chosen to spend the next part of his exciting career with Atrium.”

Nick Witkowski adds: “Jeremy, Howard and the team are developing something really special with Atrium so I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to use my existing experience and apply it to such a clever new model in the industry. As well as being good businessmen, the founding team is also putting together a really impressive scripted slate of the highest quality and I very much look forward to working with them on it.”
